PC - Blank bar blocks part of the screen when more than one screen attached
Last Updated 3 years ago

Symptoms:

  1. A blank bar as per the screen shot below (the red border has been added for clarity) appears along the bottom OR top of the screen in certain apps, such as File Explorer.
  2. The bar slowly gets bigger over time.
  3. Restarting the PC helps temporarily but it reappears:

Resolution:

  2. Click on Start > Settings > Systemimage
  3. Re-arrange the Display icons by selecting one and dragging it around.

  5. Click Apply
  6. Re-arrange them again to the orientation you desire.
  7. Make sure in the final arrangement, the edges of the display icons "snap" to each other by slightly overlapping one screen with the other and releasing the mouse.
    1. The small gap shown between in the screens in the display/screens pictogram is not important - but can look smaller in some arrangements than others - as long as the arrangement is created by overlapping the screens during drag 'n' drop and allowing the OS to then create the snapped orientation.
